Retraction Policy

The Jurnal Sains dan Teknologi Pangan is committed to maintaining the integrity, accuracy, and reliability of the scientific record. The journal follows recognized publication ethics principles, including the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), when considering the correction or retraction of published articles.

1. Grounds for Retraction

An article may be retracted when there is clear evidence of serious problems affecting its reliability or publication integrity, including but not limited to:

  • Significant errors or unreliable findings resulting from misconduct or honest error.

  • Plagiarism or substantial unattributed duplication of previously published work.

  • Fabrication or falsification of research data.

  • Duplicate or redundant publication without appropriate disclosure.

  • Unauthorized use of data, images, or other research materials.

  • Serious authorship or publication ethics violations that compromise the integrity of the article.

  • Other circumstances that substantially undermine the validity or integrity of the published work.

2. Retraction Procedure

When concerns are raised about a published article, the editorial team will conduct a preliminary assessment and gather relevant evidence. The authors will normally be contacted and given an opportunity to respond to the concerns.

The Editor-in-Chief will evaluate the available evidence and determine whether retraction or another editorial action is appropriate. Where necessary, the journal may consult independent experts, the authors' institutions, or other relevant parties. Retraction decisions will be made fairly, transparently, and in accordance with applicable publication ethics standards.

3. Retraction Notice

When an article is retracted, the journal will publish a separate retraction notice explaining the reason for the retraction as clearly as possible. The notice will be linked to the original article and will identify the article's title, authors, publication details, and the reason for retraction.

4. Accessibility of Retracted Articles

Retracted articles will generally remain accessible in the journal's online archive to preserve the scholarly record. The article's PDF and webpage will be clearly marked as RETRACTED, and a prominent link to the retraction notice will be provided. The article will not be silently removed or altered, except where required by law or other exceptional circumstances.

5. Retraction Initiated by Authors

Authors who identify serious errors or ethical concerns in their published work should promptly notify the editorial office and provide a detailed explanation. Requests for retraction will be assessed independently by the Editor-in-Chief based on the evidence and the journal's publication ethics policies.

6. Editorial Independence and Transparency

Retraction decisions will be based on evidence and publication ethics considerations, not on commercial, personal, or institutional interests. The journal will maintain appropriate records of the investigation and editorial decision while respecting confidentiality and applicable legal requirements.

The Jurnal Sains dan Teknologi Pangan is committed to correcting the scholarly record responsibly and protecting the integrity of scientific communication.
